Norwood Family, We truly hope everyone is doing well during these unprecedented times, and realize the temporary closure of our school has put a strain on our students and families. As we approach the month of May, we are beginning to end our current school year and wrap up our distance learning project. While we realize this school year didn’t end as intended, we understand and appreciate all of our students and parent’s hard work these last few weeks. Here are a few dates: · May 4th – Due to the State of Oklahoma resuming some activities and the ending of our fiscal school year we will be discontinuing our meal program. Our last meal “pick up” distribution will be Monday, May 4th from 10:30-11:30 at the west end of our campus. · May 8th will be our last day of school. “Sign off” sheet for completion of learning packets should be signed by a parent and emailed or take a picture and text/message to your child’s teacher by May 8th. · May 18th – Please join us for a special night at Norwood. Our entire staff will be present for students and staff to honk, smile, and wave as you drive thru to pick up report cards and any personal items. PK – 7th grade students can come through the line from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. We will hold our first remote 8th grade graduation beginning at 6:15 p.m. We are requesting our 8th grade parents line their cars up in the front of the school for a short informal graduation program. While we realize this isn’t an ideal situation we want to honor our 8th graders for their time at Norwood and to wish them well as they prepare for their next academic journey. Due to CDC guidelines all students and parents must remain in their vehicles while staff will remain behind the fence while observing social distancing rules. We would like to say “Thank You” for all the support you have given in making our school “Great”. We truly miss our students/families and very much look forward to seeing everyone May 18th. We are anticipating beginning the 2020-2021 school year August 6, 2020. If we can be of any assistance, please call the front office Monday – Thursday between the hours of 9:00-11:00. Thank you, Keith Fisher & Norwood Staff

Norwood Family, We truly hope & pray everyone is doing well. We will be changing our food distribution program beginning Monday, Monday 30th. We will be distributing 10 meals (5 lunches & 5 breakfasts) at once. This will be distributed on Mondays only from 10:00 – 11:30. We feel this will make it more convenient for parents & help everyone follow CDC’s guidelines more effectively for social distancing. Also, the staff is currently working on our distant learning approach with that information released next week. Please continue to take care of yourself, your family, & your neighbors. God Bless, Keith Fisher

While we know times are presently difficult we are reminded by the beautiful tulips that emerged recently planted by our students last fall to honor our cancer patients. Therefore we are reminded that spring is here and better times are around the corner. Enjoy life and stay safe. Love our Norwood Family!!!

Dear Norwood parents and staff: This afternoon, the state Board of Education voted to close all Oklahoma schools, effective immediately, until at least April 6 in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19. This includes Norwood. Additionally, there will be no school activities during this time. While state officials mandated schools to close for two weeks following spring break, they also encouraged administrators to prepare for the possibility of longer-term closures, if it becomes necessary. At least 35 other states across the country also have made the decision to close schools statewide in the interest of public health. Oklahoma schools are not expected to be required to make-up the missed days. At this time, schools have been instructed by the state Department of Education not to provide online, home-based or distance learning for students. This is an unprecedented situation, and it continues to evolve by the hour. We know this uncertainty can cause anxiety and worry, but we want to assure you that Norwood is doing everything possible to ensure the needs of students and employees will be met during this unique time. We will be closed for classes, but – as a district – we will continue to serve our community, while abiding by the healthy best practices that have been recommended by the CDC. Employees will receive information about their responsibilities during the school closure over the next few days. We encourage you to comply with what health officials have recommended as well. If you can, please stay home and enjoy family time. If you must go out, please practice social distancing, allowing at least six feet between you and other individuals. If you have questions about COVID-19, please contact your medical professional or the county health department. You also can learn more about how to prevent the illness by visiting https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html Communication will be key during the next two weeks. It is our hope that accurate and up-to-date correspondence will combat fear and panic, as well as help you make well-informed decisions for your family. You can get the latest information by visiting Norwood website. There, we will be posting answers to frequently asked questions as soon as they are available, including those about child nutrition services, employee payroll, end-of-year activities and more. For Norwood, there is nothing more important than the safety and health of our students, staff and community. We want you to be safe, and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Norwood is strong, and we will get through this together. Sincerely, Keith Fisher Norwood School Superintendent
