💚🖤 BRING THEM TO NORWOOD. 🖤💚 We’ll teach them. We’ll love them. We’ll support them. Stepping out of our normal lane for a minute, but as we begin another school year at Norwood, this feels worth saying. Norwood Public School is more than a building where kids come to learn. For our students and families, we want Norwood to be a security blanket, a safety net, and a place where every child knows they belong. Most days, it looks pretty simple. They come to school. They learn. They eat lunch. They laugh with their friends. They play at recess. They practice. They compete. They grow. And then they go home. But when life isn’t simple, Norwood is still here. When a child is hungry, somebody feeds them. When they’re struggling with a lesson, somebody sits beside them. When they need a coat, school supplies, or something they don’t have, somebody starts figuring out how to get it. When a child needs extra support, we build that support around them. When they’re grieving, scared, frustrated, struggling, or simply having a hard day, there’s someone here ready to listen. And when something just doesn’t seem right, we notice. That’s one of the special things about a small school like Norwood. Our kids aren’t numbers. We know their names. We know their families. We know when they’re having a great day, and we often know when they’re not. Then tomorrow morning, the buses come back, the doors open, and we do it all over again. Before many people have even started their day, someone is driving a bus route. Someone is preparing food. Someone is getting the building ready. Teachers are preparing lessons. Staff members are getting ready to help the students who need them. Coaches are preparing to push kids to become better teammates and better people. And somewhere along the way, something completely unexpected will happen that wasn’t on anybody’s lesson plan. 😂 That’s school. It isn’t always glamorous. It isn’t always easy. And it definitely isn’t perfect. But something pretty remarkable happens here every school day. We open our doors and tell our community: 💚 Bring us your kids. 🖤 Bring us the ones who are reading years ahead and the ones who are still trying to figure it out. Bring us the athletes, the artists, the gamers, the thinkers, the talkers, the quiet ones, the leaders, and the kids who haven’t discovered what they’re great at yet. Bring us the ones who have everything they need and the ones who may walk through our doors needing a little more. Bring us the easy days. Bring us the hard days. Bring them all. We’ll teach them. We’ll make mistakes along the way, because we’re human. Then we’ll come back tomorrow and try again. That’s the promise. As this school year gets underway, take a moment to notice the buses rolling through our community. Notice the lights coming on at Norwood. Notice the teachers, support staff, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, coaches, administrators, and everyone else standing at those doors waiting for children who aren’t their own, but who quickly become “our kids.” Every morning, families in our community send the people they love most through our doors. 📚 Norwood Families Reminder! 🏫 Our Norwood Afterschool Program begins Monday! 🎉 If your child will be attending the afterschool program, please make sure all required paperwork has been completed and turned in. This includes students who may only need to stay occasionally, such as for ball games or other after-school events. We are required to have completed forms on file before your child can participate. The afterschool forms are included in your school enrollment packet. If you have any questions or need another copy, please contact the school office.
