Parents, Please be sure your child has a set of headphones or ear buds for school. They do not need to be fancy or expensive. Also if your child does bring their Chrome Book home for the evening they must have it for school the next day. Please help them to remember to bring back their Chrome Book and bag with charger and login sheets they were each given.

Norwood Family, We hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed your summer break! We are excited to begin the 2021-2022 school year. School will begin Wednesday, August 11th. Our school day will start at 7:55 a.m. and conclude at 3:05 p.m. Breakfast will be served from 7:25- 7:55 daily. We will offer our Before School Program beginning August 11th, but due to enrollment procedures with the Boys & Girls Club our After School Program is scheduled to begin August 16th. As I'm sure most of your are aware, the Covid Delta variant virus has emerged again with a vengeance in our part of the state. With that being said, we will follow many of the safety protocols that were in place last year. However, it is our intent at this time, to resume the many extra curricular activities that our students have missed so much. We will continue to follow Norwood Public School's Safe Return Plan and follow guidance from the Center for Disease Control, the Oklahoma State Health Department and the Oklahoma State Department of Education. At this time we will not be mandating masks for our students and staff while on school grounds, but we are highly recommending them for everyone. masks will be mandated, per federal law, on school buses. Many changes have been made on our campus this summer in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year. Many thanks to the Norwood Board of Education for their insight and willingness to provide a great facility for our students and our community. We will be having Open House on August 9th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. We encourage everyone to come, meet your child's teacher and tour our facility but please remember to practice social distancing at all times. We realize there will be many specific questions and concerns. Please feel free to contact us at 918-478-3092. Once again we are excited to begin our school year. Our students safety and educational needs has always and will always remain our top priority. Working together, putting our kids as our top priority, will always lead to success. Enjoy the remainder of your break and we will look forward to seeing everyone August 11th. Keith Fisher

The Cherokee Nation Summer Nutrition Program is now accepting applications for the Summer EBT for Children program. The goal is to have cards out to family’s in early May, depending on the timeline of when the households apply online with data. Parents to apply, you will click on or copy and paste the following link in any browser. https://health.cherokee.org/public-health/women-infants-children/sebtc/ This federally funded program is available to anyone; you do not have to be American Indian to qualify. Qualifying families will receive approximately $30 of free food per child per month for May, June and July. Benefits are on an EBT card (works like a debit card) that allows you to purchase healthy food for the summer. Participation in this program will have no impact on other government assistance that you and your child receive. Information provided by you on the data spreadsheet or any records obtained for this program will be kept confidential as required by law and will be used only for this project. Once approved, Summer EBT cards will be mailed to the address provided along with a list of participating stores and a food card (shopping list) that will help you identify approved food items. Families with questions can call Cherokee Nation SEBTC at (539) 243-3265 or (800) 256-0671 ext. 5589 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday with questions. Thank you for working with Cherokee Nation WIC and partnering with us to reach out to our area families to supplement nutritious foods for the summer months. Wanted to inform school districts we were approved to extend the online application form through April 30th. All households that applied early and verified will receive EBT card packets in the mail first 2 weeks of May. Households applying April 15th through April 30th, will receive packets towards the end of May. Melissa Stayathome Special Assistant, Cherokee Nation WIC Summer Nutrition Electronic Benefits Project
