Dear Norwood Families
We know that there are families in our community that count on SNAP benefits to provide meals for their families. Unfortunately, due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will likely be interrupted, beginning November 1. We understand that this disruption may cause uncertainty, worry and a financial burden for some members of our school family.
Norwood school will continue to serve a nutritious and filling breakfast and lunch daily. Students that are part of the after school program will receive an afternoon snack.
Students that are part of the Cherokee Nation may apply for food benefits with the Cherokee Nation Food Distribution program. Cherokee families that have been receiving SNAP benefits will be asked to close their SNAP accounts before they can receive food benefits with the Cherokee Nation.
Parents can dial 211 to receive additional information about food banks, pantries, and other support programs in our area.
Our school is committed to keeping you informed and ensuring that every student feels safe, secure and supported. As we receive additional information regarding food resources we will notify you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Cris Wyse, Superintendent
