At Norwood, we know that being a small school doesn’t mean having small dreams. Our students leave our halls and go on to accomplish some pretty incredible things, and we love getting the opportunity to celebrate them.

This week, we are proud to recognize Norwood alum Brooklyn Meter, who is now a freshman at Hulbert High School.

Brooklyn recently took the stage at the Guardians of Tomorrow Summit as the event’s official Youth Leader Speaker. She spoke to attendees representing communities from Alaska, Arizona, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, and Texas.

Her message focused on issues affecting young people today, including prevention, online safety, and phone safety. Most importantly, Brooklyn was able to bring something to the conversation that adults simply cannot provide on their ownβ€”the perspective and voice of a young person growing up in today’s digital world.

For those of us at Norwood, moments like this are special.

Our students may eventually move on to high school, college, careers, and communities beyond our little school, but they will always be part of the Norwood family. Seeing former students step into leadership roles, find their voices, and make a positive impact reminds us why the work being done in our classrooms every day matters.

Brooklyn’s journey is also a great reminder to the students currently walking Norwood’s halls: where you start does not determine how far you can go.

We are proud to see a Norwood alum standing on a stage, representing young people and helping make their voices heard.

Congratulations, Brooklyn. Keep doing big things. Norwood is proud to call you one of our own!

Once a Norwood student, always part of the Norwood family. πŸ’™
