Norwood Family, We hope and pray everyone is doing well. Norwood will resume traditional instruction for all grades, Monday, January 25th. However, we will be implementing a stricter masking policy with students and staff in hopes of keeping our doors open. Please do NOT send your students to school if they are not feeling well. This will be extremely important in controlling the spread of this virus. Working together, hopefully we will be able to remain with traditional instruction. We want our kids here! It will also be fine if you decide for your student to remain with the distance learning format at this time providing students complete required assignments. We are also happy to announce that the UV lights in our ventilation systems have been installed and are functioning. We feel this will help tremendously with keeping the air circulation within our facility safer. We are excited to return and hope to see everyone Monday. Stay Safe & God Bless Keith Fisher
Norwood Family: We hope everyone is doing well. While we all have been working hard to keep our students/staff healthy, we have been notified of confirmed cases of Covid within our school. We have notified all parents of students we believe to be possibly directly impacted. If you didn’t receive a call, we don't believe your student was directly impacted. However, with this new information we have decided to transition to all distance learning for the remainder of next week Tuesday Jan. 19- Friday Jan. 22. There will be no classes Monday Jan. 18 in observance of MLK Holiday. If there are no new cases reported, we plan to return to traditional instruction Jan 25. Please inform the office if your student/family become infected. We will reevaluated at the end of next week. Our google classrooms will be open Tuesday morning at 8:00 am. Our drive in meal service will be available with the same guidelines as used previously. We apologize for any inconvenience, but remain committed to the health of our students and staff. If you have any questions, please call the office. Thank you, Keith Fisher
Norwood Family, We hope everyone is doing well. These past few months have been difficult for everyone. It sometimes seems all we hear is bad news so I would like to share some good things that are happening at our school. We were so happy to see our students safely return to campus. There was so much excitement from students and staff. We are also very pleased to announce that Norwood School and the entire community have eleven new storm shelters located on the west end of our campus. These are available for the community whenever needed. I know it makes us all feel better knowing our students/staff have a safe place to go during school hours should the need arise. Many thanks to former County Commissioner Mike Brown, Danny Taylor, and new County Commissioner Chris Jenkins, for making this possible for our community. It is truly appreciated. We have, thanks to the insight of the Norwood Board of Education, started the installation of UV lights in our ventilation systems and air curtains at our entry doors. This project was started several weeks ago. They are scheduled to be back on our campus, Friday, January 15th, to finish installation. Due to this fact, there will be no traditional classes next Friday, January 15th. This decision was made in order to allow them to install without the worry of interrupting classes. There will also be no school on Monday, January 18th in observance of Martin Luther King Day, and a scheduled teacher professional development day. While we regret not having our doors open traditionally Friday, January 15th, we are thankful to have this system installed within our school which will hopefully help to keep our students safer and healthier. Due to a computer software glitch, report cards will go home with students, Tuesday, January 12th. We also have some extra popcorn for sale from our previous fundraiser. Call the office if you are interested. Once Again: Friday, January 15th will be a virtual day and Monday, January 18th - No School Thank you all so much for supporting our students and our school. Norwood is a great place because of people like you. Proud to be a Hornet! God Bless, Keith Fisher
Norwood Family: We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a great New Year. Norwood School will return to traditional instruction Monday, January 4th with additional safety precautions in place. However, it will be your choice if you decide for your student to remain in the virtual program providing students log in daily and complete their assignments in a timely manner. Our goal has been and will continue to be keeping our students and staff as safe as possible while providing a quality education to our students. Please do NOT send your child to school if they are not feeling well or exhibiting any symptoms of the Covid virus. Simply call the office and your child will be able to participate virtually until they are feeling better thus not missing any instruction. Working together, we can help ensure less transmission of any virus helping keep our students/staff healthy . This will be extremely important in keeping our doors open. We realize that this has been a difficult year and everyone is ready to return to “normal “. Hopefully, better times are around the corner. Thank you for supporting our school and we look forward to seeing everyone Monday, January 4th. God Bless, Keith Fisher

Good morning Norwood Family, We realize the last few weeks has been difficult for many of you and we hope and pray that everyone is healthy and safe. Closing our school for traditional learning on Aug 25th was a difficult decision but keeping our students/staff safe has been and will remain our top priority. We transitioned to our virtual approach to learning and for the most part it seems to have been successful. We are continually working to fine tune our program. After closing our facility for 14 days, following CDC guidelines, Norwood will open our campus again to traditional learning beginning Sept. 8th. If your child was enrolled traditionally but wants to continue the virtual path until a later date that will be fine as we realize your students health and safety is your main priority as it is ours. We will do everything possible to accommodate our students' needs. If your child is showing any symptoms whatsoever or they are just not feeling well, please do not send them to school until they are cleared by a medical professional. It is much better to be cautious. Working together will ensure a greater success of keeping our students safe and our facility open. Our facility has been disinfected on a regular basis and this will continue to be done. Norwood School has a scheduled staff development day on Friday September 4th and we will also be closed for Labor Day Sept.7th. There will be no google classrooms either day. Norwood School and our community is strong and we will endure these difficult times working together. Please remain safe and we hope to see everyone again on Sept.8th. If we can be of further assistance please feel free to call the office. Thank you, Norwood School Superintendent Keith Fisher

We are requiring that if your student wants a meal that we preorder by calling the front office before 2:00 pm the previous day. This will help with knowing how much food to prepare. Because of federal guidelines we are only allowed to feed students currently enrolled in our school. Please call if we can be of any assistance. Thank you, Norwood School Superintendent Keith Fisher

Dear Norwood parents and staff: This afternoon, the state Board of Education voted to close all Oklahoma schools, effective immediately, until at least April 6 in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19. This includes Norwood. Additionally, there will be no school activities during this time. While state officials mandated schools to close for two weeks following spring break, they also encouraged administrators to prepare for the possibility of longer-term closures, if it becomes necessary. At least 35 other states across the country also have made the decision to close schools statewide in the interest of public health. Oklahoma schools are not expected to be required to make-up the missed days. At this time, schools have been instructed by the state Department of Education not to provide online, home-based or distance learning for students. This is an unprecedented situation, and it continues to evolve by the hour. We know this uncertainty can cause anxiety and worry, but we want to assure you that Norwood is doing everything possible to ensure the needs of students and employees will be met during this unique time. We will be closed for classes, but – as a district – we will continue to serve our community, while abiding by the healthy best practices that have been recommended by the CDC. Employees will receive information about their responsibilities during the school closure over the next few days. We encourage you to comply with what health officials have recommended as well. If you can, please stay home and enjoy family time. If you must go out, please practice social distancing, allowing at least six feet between you and other individuals. If you have questions about COVID-19, please contact your medical professional or the county health department. You also can learn more about how to prevent the illness by visiting https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html Communication will be key during the next two weeks. It is our hope that accurate and up-to-date correspondence will combat fear and panic, as well as help you make well-informed decisions for your family. You can get the latest information by visiting Norwood website. There, we will be posting answers to frequently asked questions as soon as they are available, including those about child nutrition services, employee payroll, end-of-year activities and more. For Norwood, there is nothing more important than the safety and health of our students, staff and community. We want you to be safe, and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding. Norwood is strong, and we will get through this together. Sincerely, Keith Fisher Norwood School Superintendent
