Norwood Family

Parents/Guardians:

First of all, thank you so much for your support of Norwood School.  We are definitely in unprecedented times, but as a community, we will work together to take care of each other.  Norwood School is taking the CDC’s recommendation seriously as the spread of the corona virus is expanding in Oklahoma.  March 25th the State Board of Education closed all school buildings for the remainder of the year and has issued an order for all public schools to other distant learning from the week of April 6th – May 8th.

To protect you and the Norwood School staff, there will be limited personal contact with the school.  Teachers are currently working on a five-week instructional packet that we will distribute to every student PK-8th grade.  In addition teachers will provide on-line activities for your child if they have internet access.

The focus of our distant learning project will be in the areas of Reading and Math.  Teachers are currently working on ways to communicate with students and parents during this time for questions and concerns.  While we realize this is not an ideal way to educate our students, we will get through this together, through teamwork and make this the best possible solution.  Packets will be distributed in the pickup line Monday, April 6th if at all possible.  The distribution of packets will occur simultaneously with the food distribution program which will occur between the hours of 10:00 – 12:00.

We have been preparing meals for our students daily for pickup at the West end of our campus.  Beginning Monday, March 30th, we will begin distributing 10 meals (5 lunches & 5 breakfasts) at one time.  Hopefully this will help parents not having to drive to the school daily and will also help with complying with CDC’s requirement to help keep everyone safe.

Food distribution will be only on Monday’s 10:00-12:00.  Please also be advised that a school in a neighboring county had to suspend their meal service due to one of their staff being in direct contact with a person that tested positive for corona virus.  I say this because it may come to a point for safety of everyone that we con not offer meals.  (I truly hope this isn’t the case)

We realize that this is a great deal of information.  We need to all stay calm and remember that the truly important things in life are our families and communities.  This is a great time to remember to take care of each other.  If we can be of assistance, please call the office between the hours of 9:00-11:00.  Please stay safe and May God Bless each and every one of you.
